Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Raipur International Cricket Stadium or Naya Raipur International Cricket Stadium is a cricket ground in the city of Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India.

It is the third largest cricket stadium in India and the fourth largest cricket stadium in the world. The stadium has a capacity of about 65,000 seats.

Opened in 2008, this stadium hosted the first match in 2010 when the Canadian national cricket team arrived in India and played a practice match against the national team of Chhattisgarh. In 2013, the stadium was announced as the second home ground for Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has since hosted many of the team’s matches.
The stadium is named after Veer Narayan Singh Binjhwar, a landlord from Sonakhan, who fought the Indian War of 1857 in Chhattisgarh.
The stadium is located in Sector-3 Naya Raipur, near the Swami Vivekananda Airport in Naya Raipur and is 21 km from the capital Raipur.
The construction of the stadium began in 2001 and was completed in two years. Built and owned by Government of Chhattisgarh.

A 22-yard drive usually provides a good balance between club and ball. Three IPL matches, one CLT20 and the 2020–21 World Safety World Series have been played at this ground and twice the team has crossed 200 here in two Road Safety World Series matches. Also, at times, the pitch offers some help to the pacers as well as the spinners. All in all, it’s a good sporting wicket, with something for everyone to enjoy.
The Shaheed Veer Narayan International Cricket Stadium pitch and pitch has been named the best Ctral Zone pitch and pitch of the year 2017-18 by the BCCI. Notably, Naya Raipur Cricket Ground was adjudged the best during IPL 2013, Ground Curator Shamim Mirza and ground staff were congratulated for the above achievement.
The first international cricket match of international standard was played between the Canadian cricket team and the Chhattisgarh cricket team, the match was a one-dayer, played on 21 November 2010.

On 16 December 2012, the stadium hosted a half-marathon with the theme “Let’s Run” in memory of Vijay Diwas.
Sunil Gavaskar rated this stadium as one of the best stadiums in the country and suggested that it be used for all types of matches.
Irfan Pathan, who was delighted with the facilities at the stadium, noted that “When opportunities arise and such facilities are there, we hope cricketers will turn up.”
The 2020-21 Road Safety World Series was postponed on 24 March 2020 after four matches due to India’s COVID-19 quarantine. After almost a year, the tournament has resumed with the announcement of all matches to be played in Raipur following all the COVID-19 guidelines, allowing only 50% stadium capacity. The tournament hosted matches from March 5 to 21, 2021.

In January 2013, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced that Indian Premier League side Delhi Daredevils would host two of their home matches in IPL – 6 at this stadium.
Raipur won two IPL games in January after the Prime Minister invited GMR, the owners of the Daredevils franchise, to host some of their home games there. After inspections and several meetings, approvals came, and in February the state Department of Public Works took action to improve the field in time. they completed the interior work in less than two months.
On 28 April 2013, the first IPL match was played between Delhi Daredevils and Pune Warriors, in which Daredevils defeated Warriors by 15 runs.

Several matches of the 2014 Indian Premier League were scheduled to be played at the stadium, but could not take place due to the postponement of the matches due to the general elections.
In the 2015 Indian Premier League, Raipur again won two IPL matches with Delhi Daredevils as the visiting team. On 9 May 2015, the 1st match was played between Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad in which Sunrisers beat Daredevils by 6 runs and Moises Hriques was the top scorer with his 74 runs off 46 balls. The second match was played on 12 May 2015 between Delhi Daredevils and Chennai Super Kings, in which Daredevils comfortably beat Super Kings by 6 wickets, with Zaheer Khan emerging as the man of the match for his economical bowling.
Raipur was re-announced as the second home venue for Delhi Daredevils for the Indian Premier League 2016. On 20 May 2016, the 1st match between Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad took place. This was the second game in which the two teams again played against each other on this ground. While in 2015 Sunrisers beat Daredevils in a tight game, this time again it came down to the last ball and this time Daredevils won and beat Sunrisers by 6 wickets on the last ball of the match thanks to Karun Nair’s 83 balls. runs hit for which he was voted man of the match. On 22 May 2016, the second match was played between Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore which was also the last league match of IPL 2016 and it was a must win match for both teams to qualify for the playoffs which was won by the Royal Challengers and won by the Daredevils by 6 wickets and qualified for the playoffs, while the Delhi Daredevils were eliminated and did not qualify.
The stadium also hosted eight T20 matches of the 2014 Twty20 Champions League. These consisted of two group stage matches, plus all six qualifying matches. The qualifying matches were double-headers. For the first time in the history of the CLT20 the qualifiers are sold out.

As the Raipur Stadium is set to host the 2nd ODI on Saturday, Mukul Tiwari – Secretary of the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh (Association), speaking to Times of India (TOI) on Thursday said it is a proud moment for everyone here and yes, knowing the cricket mania in this part of the country, the ticket sales (within six minutes) were not surprising.

“This is a proud moment for us and we are ready for it. There is a huge craze for cricket here. This can be seen from the fact that when we opened the sale of tickets for this match on the ticketing platform, all the tickets were sold within 6 hours after we did it. However, people are queuing up outside the stadium, hoping to get tickets. We have reserved around 4,000 seats for students at Rs 300 per ticket,” Mukul Tiwari told TOI.
Throwing more light on what this stadium has to offer, Tiwari went on to say, “Our preparations for this match have been very good. We have a world-class stadium that can hold almost 50,000 spectators. The pitch is green and the pitch is our target is to bid to be one of the cities to host one of the ODI World Cup matches later this year, and we want to put on a big show to enable us to do that.”
