According to the notification from the LLC, all four teams will play each other twice during the 12-match leg of the league. There will also be four days off between matches to provide much-needed respite for retired cricketers.
Legends League Cricket 2022: India Maharajas Vs Asia Lions
Led by former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag Gujarat Giants will take on India Capital on September 17 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata to kick off the second edition of Legends League Cricket featuring retired cricketers. Notably, India Capitals will be led by former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir.
The organizers of Legends League Cricket announced their itinerary for the second edition which notified Gujarat Giants against India Capitals followed by a match against Harbhajan Singh’s Manipal Tigers against Irfan Pathan-led Bhilwara Kings on September 18. 12 matches between four teams to be played at five venues. Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Cuttack and Jodhpur have been identified as the five venues for the tournament.
According to the notification from the LLC, all four teams will play each other twice during the 12-match leg of the league. There will also be four days off between matches to provide much-needed respite for retired cricketers. The top teams at the end of the league phase will play in the qualifiers at the Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur on October 2, with the winner progressing directly to the final to be played on October 5. However, the loser of the qualifiers will get another chance as the team will face the third-placed team on October 3 for a place in the final.
The team that finished fourth after the league phase will be eliminated. Indian cricket fans will witness a mouth-watering clash between top players like Chris Gayle, Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell Johnson, Virendra Sehwag, Shane Watson, Muttiah Muralitharan and others. According to the notification, all the matches are scheduled for 19:30 except the India Capitals vs Gujarat Giants match in New Delhi on September 25, which will start at 16:00 along with Qualifier 1 which is scheduled to start early. Founded by Raman Raheja and Vivek Khushalani, the league is the brainchild of Absolute Legends Sports Pvt Ltd. Former cricketer and coach of the Indian men’s cricket team, Ravi Shastri is also involved in the entire project as he serves as the commissioner of the league.
The first edition was held in Oman, where three teams with the names of Indian Maharajas, Asian Lions and World Giants participated. Mohammad Kaif, Misbah-ul-Haq and Darren Sammy captain the teams respectively.

All sides played each other twice in the round-robin stage, with the top two reaching the finals. The world giants and the Asian Lions met in the final, where the former won the league’s inaugural trophy.
After the success of the first edition, the league is back for a second with a new format. Four teams will be owned by a private organization that will take over the league via the franchise-based route.
Additionally, a special match between the Indian maharajas and the world giants, with Sourav Ganguly and Eoin Morgan captaining the sides respectively, will be played in Kolkata at the Eden Gardens to kick off the new season.
All Legends League Cricket matches will be telecast on Star Sports Network. Legends League Cricket has announced the complete schedule and program for its upcoming season in September 2022. The second season of the league is scheduled to be played in six cities, five of which are Kolkata, New Delhi, Cuttack, Lucknow and Jodhpur. The playoff location has not yet been announced.
