Glamorganshire Cricket Club (Welsh: Criced Morgannwg) is one of eight first-class county clubs in the Grande and Wales Domestic Cricket Association. It represents the historic county of Glamorgan (Welsh: Morgannwg). Glamorgan was founded in 1888 as a minor county and was an important member of the first minor county championships before the First World War. The club took part in the County Championship in 1921 and the team progressed to the first class before taking part in various top domestic cricket competitions in Grande and Wales.

Glamorgan are the only first-class cricket club in Wales. They won the Greishshire Championship in 1948, 1969 and 1997. Glamorgan have also beaten international teams from every Test-matching nation, including Australia, whom they beat on consecutive tours in 1964 and 1968. The club’s limited-overs team is simply famous like Glamorgan. The jersey colors for limited round games are blue and yellow.

The club is based in Cardiff and plays most of its home games at Sofia Gards on the River Taff. Occasionally matches are played in Swansea, Colwyn Bay and Creselli (although the latter are in Derbyshire and Pembrokeshire respectively).
Cricket probably came to Wales and Glamorgan by the end of the 17th century. The earliest known mention of a Glamorgan cricket match is at Swansea in 1780.
Glamorgan CCC was formed at a meeting at the Angel Hotel in Cardiff on 6th July 1888.
The club competed in the small county championship for many years, but after the First World War, it applied for first-class status.

Glamorgan CCC played the original first-class match against Sussex CCC at Cardiff Arms Park on 18th and 20th May 1921, bringing the county championship to 17 teams. With N.V.H. Riches captained Glamorgan to win their first game by 23 points. There was only one win that summer. Glamorgan lost 14 games and finished with the wooden spoon.
Glamorgan won the County Championship in 1948 under the management of Wilf Wooller, whose high standards of play were instrumental in defeating stronger batting and bowling teams.
31 August 1968 Glamorgan in Swansea became an unexpected symbol of a piece of cricket history as Gary Sobers bowled Malcolm Nash during their game against Notts in Swansea. Zhong hit all six balls and sent six shots.
Glamorgan won again under Tony Lewis in 1969 and Matthew Maynard in 1997. Lewis was the only Glamorgan player to captain Grande in a Test, and in 1972 he became the first Glamorgan cricketer to lead Grande on an overseas tour and series against India and Pakistan –73. Maynard, who retired at the end of the 2005 season, is one of the most successful batsmen in first-class cricket over the past 20 years. The 2005 captain, bowler Robert Croft, proved effective on the gland circle and was a useful pinch-hitter in the List A one-day game.

The club plans to expand its Grade II heritage park at Sophia Gards with seventeen 500-seater super stadiums in April 2006.

Lloyd was named vice-captain in 2019 and in Cook’s absence through injury led the team to three wins and four draws in the county championship.
Lloyd made his debut for Wales in 2012 and went on to make 196 appearances for the club in all formats, scoring six runs, 116 runs and taking 105 wickets.
In 2019, Matthew Maynard presented him with a club cap in the County Championship against Gloucestershire at Newport CC.
