Playing in the background, the crowd thought the ball would be caught in bounds, but the batsman pulled the catch. Her ecstatic boyfriend ran onto the pitch in celebration, past security guards and recreating the iconic dance moves that made Shimona Rishi famous as the ‘Cadbury Girl’.

Said to be inspired by a famous incident in the 1960s when a young fan jumped over a fence and ran to kiss Abbas Ali Baig on the cheek, the original was created by commercial advertising agency Ogilvy. Now, nearly three decades later, the agency has worked its magic again, with the ad going viral in record time.

Netizens loved how the new ad broke down gender stereotypes and celebrated a shift in the game’s old concept, with many saying: “It’s time”.
