The 100 Cricket – England’s new eight-team city competition, The Hundred, kicks off on October 3, with various competition details confirmed.
While many are already known, including some of the players, coaches and the new 100-ball format in which the matches will be played, the names of the teams have yet to be announced.
The 100 Cricket
Each team has been allocated one contracted England red ball player, who can only be present for part of the tournament, and two local iconic players, while the remaining teams will be selected in the draft on 20 October. The team has selected two English players for the women’s edition of the tournament.

The average score batting first in the women’s tournament was 123, with Brave’s highest score being 166-3 against the Welsh Fire in Southampton. Only nine captains chose to bat first, 24 chose to bowl, 13 matches were won by batting first and 19 by batting second.
With a season of competition in the bag, and now more focus on areas such as range hitting, bowling variation and matchup study, it will be interesting to see how teams approach the second year of The Hunter and find out what.
